Battery Builders Inc

At Battery Builders, we believe in powering more than just equipment. We believe in supporting our community and creating real impact where it matters. That is why we are proud to share our recent contribution to Blood Cancer United in support of Lila Smethurst and her Student Visionary of the Year campaign.

Why This Cause Matters

Blood cancer affects tens of thousands of families across the United States every year. In 2025, an estimated 192,070 people are expected to be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma, and roughly every three minutes, someone in the U.S. receives a blood cancer diagnosis. An estimated 1,759,461 people in the U.S. are living with or in remission from these diseases, and blood cancers are responsible for thousands of deaths annually. Leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma together account for nearly 10 percent of all new cancer cases in the U.S. Blood Cancer United leads the fight against these diseases by funding lifesaving research, providing free patient support services, and advocating for better access to care. Their mission focuses on advancing treatments and moving closer to cures while helping patients and families navigate their journey.

Supporting this work aligns closely with our company values. We believe in contributing to efforts that improve lives and strengthen the communities around us.

Recognizing Lila Smethurst’s Leadership

Lila Smethurst is a Student Visionary of the Year candidate who is leading an ambitious fundraising campaign to benefit blood cancer research and patient support programs. She is a 14-year-old freshman at a high school in San Antonio, Texas, a student-athlete, and an active leader in her community through her involvement in Young Life and the Safe Driving Club. As part of her campaign, Lila is leading a dedicated team of 12 students and supporters who are working together to raise awareness and critical funds for Blood Cancer United. Through this program, student leaders build teams, organize outreach efforts, and generate meaningful support that directly advances lifesaving research and patient services.

Lila has set an aggressive fundraising goal and is driving her campaign through community involvement, creative events, and strong personal commitment to the cause. Her leadership and determination reflect the kind of initiative and heart that inspires others to step up and get involved.
